Report for the mobility in Viersen, Germany in Nov. 2021

 Monday, 8th November

In the morning the international students were welcomed by the headmaster and presented with the programme for the week as well as the ongoing photo project for the week. After that, they were group were instructed by local students from "Hilfsbereit", the EvR student club that helps others students with social problems, how to play some team building games and activities. After that, students did a rally around Viersen with the help of the app Biparcours to get to know their host city. In the afternoon the reception by the mayor of Viersen took place at the town hall, at which students and teachers from the school's orchestra played.



Tuesday, 9th November

The group went on an excursion to Bonn to the "Haus der Geschichte". The topic of the day was "Politics for Future" and the guides from the museum focused on past, present and future solutions of political, social and ecological problems that Germany and Europe have had to face. In the afternoon the group was hosted by the German representation of the European Commission. In a workshop they had to develop "best" and "worst case" scenarios for the European Union and to visualize them. After that, they had time to explore the city of Bonn with their fellow students.

Wednesday, 10th November

In the morning the students met at school to discuss "Food for Future". They presented their favourite recipes from their country, which they had brought from home, and discussed the aspect of "What is sustainable food?". Later they agreed on one recipe, collected ideas to make it more sustainable, and eventually prepared it at the local student's home and brought it back to school for inspection and digestion.



Thursday, 11th November

The second excursion took the group to "Zeche Zollverein" in Essen, a former coal mining and processing place. The guided tour allowed an insight into how the methodology of processing coal from deep in the earth has changed over the decades. The students' task to prepare this activity was to have a look at their own country's use of energy and if there are changes in supply and consumption recognizable for the future, as well as European regulations.




Friday, 12th November

In the morning student presentations, discussions of the various topics of the week as well as the evaluation of topics, methodology and skills took place. The teachers had their business meeting to evaluate the week and to discuss the next mobility.

In the evening a farewell party took place at school, including the host families and participating teachers and students. The hosting teachers and the vice headmaster gave farewell speeches and the students and teachers were given their certificates of attendance. In addition, there was a slide show of the results of the photo project and the students, teachers and host families evaluated the mobility with the help of flip charts and questionnaires.
